NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

Access is possible day and night. You can enter the Schwentine from the green buoy "K3". 0.1 nm after the shallow buoy "Nord" you can enter the marina. The jetties on the north bank start just a little later.

Berths

The berths are marked with red and green signs. Please call the harbor master in advance (available until 5 pm)

Surroundings

The city center is approx. 5 km away, easily accessible by bus or ferry (towards Reventloubrücke); both in the immediate vicinity. The ferry takes you relatively quickly to the western side of the fjord and you can enjoy the restaurants and events on the Kiellinie.

All amenities are in the immediate vicinity. A mast crane is available in Dietrichsdorf harbour (please contact authorized persons).

NV Land Guide

The very scenic Schwentine valley ends at the Schwentine harbor, where there is no longer any natural beauty to speak of. Instead, shipyards and machine factories characterize this section of the eastern shore of the fjord, above all the German Naval Yards, formerly Howaldtswerke Deutsche Werft (HDW). The Ostuferhafen harbor to the north is the largest part of Kiel's harbor and the starting point for shipping traffic to Eastern Europe. You can escape this industrial landscape by taking a trip to the Schwentin Valley. The hiking trail along the Schwentine is ideal for this.

Directly opposite the port on the other bank of the Schwentine is the fishing port with the sea fish market, which has long since lost its former economic importance. Like almost everywhere on the German Baltic Sea coast, fish turnover has declined significantly here too. Even the good reputation of Kiel's smoked sprats could not stop this development. The large sea fish market area is now also used by other industrial companies, including the GEOMAR Ocean Research Center.
